Sustainability at Lindy: Responsible Innovation

At Lindy, sustainability is more than a policy; it is a mindset woven into how the organisation operates, creates products, and builds relationships with customers and partners. With a history of responsibility stretching back over 90 years, Lindy approaches sustainability as a long-term commitment to people, planet, and performance.

global priority

A Culture of Sustained Responsibility

As a global family-owned business, Lindy embedded responsibility into its values long before it became a global priority. Led today by the Lindenberg, Casey, Chen, and Jamieson families, the organisation’s approach emphasises:

  • Long-term Relationships: Building strong connections based on trust, respect, and shared success.
  • Ethical Business Conduct: Guided by a formal Code of Conduct and standards such as the UN Human Rights Charter and ILO Core Labour Standards.
  • Systematic Integration: Building a structured, measurable management system with regular reporting and continuous improvement.

Leading with Independent Recognition

Lindy’s sustainability performance is independently assessed by EcoVadis, one of the world’s most respected sustainability rating platforms. This external validation ensures you can trust the organisation's progress:

  • EcoVadis Silver Medal: In September 2025, Lindy received a Silver Medal, placing the organisation in the 90th percentile (the top 10% of companies globally) with a score of 73.
  • Commitment to Standards: Lindy aligns with global benchmarks, including the UN Global Compact Principles and OECD Guidelines.

Environmental Commitment and Product Responsibility

Lindy strives to minimise environmental impact by integrating ecological considerations into product design, packaging, and operational processes. Key focus areas include:

  • Sustainable Products: Introducing cables and headphones made from GRS-certified recycled plastics and copper.
  • Packaging Evolution: Currently, 60% of packaging is recyclable, biodegradable, or reusable, with a goal for full conversion by 2026.
  • Recycled Content: Between 80% and 90% of plastic packaging already utilises 100% recycled materials.
  • Material Safety: Ensuring strict compliance with RoHS, REACH, and other chemical safety regulations.

Responsible Sourcing and Ethical Supply Chains

Sustainability at Lindy means advancing human rights and environmental respect throughout the entire value chain. The organisation ensures integrity through:

  • Ethical Partnerships: Suppliers are committed to a Code of Conduct that prohibits forced or child labour and ensures fair wages.
  • Responsible Minerals: Following the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) to trace the origin of key materials.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implementing risk assessments, audits, and supplier training through to 2028.

Sustainable Infrastructure and Biodiversity

Lindy operates its headquarters responsibly, combining renewable energy with social care:

  • Energy Self-Sufficiency: Nearly half (47%) of the headquarters' electricity needs are met by on-site renewable generation from a photovoltaic system and a combined heat and power plant.
  • Emissions Monitoring: Implementing an environmental management system to track Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions (104.52 and 21.82 $CO_{2}e$ respectively in 2024).
  • Ecosystem Support: Maintaining $1,700 m^{2}$ of meadows and shrubs with insect-friendly flowering plants to support local biodiversity.

Social Engagement and Global Impact

Lindy’s commitment extends beyond business operations through the Lindy Foundation, which has supported charitable projects since 2011. The foundation is funded by 6% of the distributions from Lindy-Elektronik GmbH and supports areas such as:

  • Youth and elderly care.
  • Education, culture, and development aid.
  • Animal welfare and assistance for people in need.
